Nomination for Life Membership of Southern Inland Swimming Association

At the recent SISA AGM, Ingrid Corcoran was awarded life membership of the association. Following is the text that was presented to the meeting by the SISA Management Committee, nominating Ingrid for this important recognition.

Under the provisions of Clause 5.2 of the Southern Inland Swimming Association’s Constitution the SISA Management Committee wish to nominate Ingrid Corcoran of the Boorowa Swimming Club as a more than worthy candidate to be awarded Life Membership of the Southern Inland Swimming Association (SISA).

The SISA Management Committee have prepared this nomination for official recognition of Ingrid’s long and continuing outstanding service and contribution to Swimming within the Southern Inland.  Ingrid’s commitment to the Swimming through coaching, administration, management, officiating, training and development of new officials, in the South-West Region of SISA has been enormous.

Ingrid, like many of us got involved in swimming through the support she provided to her two children in their swimming careers.  This included taking them to carnivals, driving them to and from training, then in the winter months travelling to Cootamundra and Canberra for winter training. Both Ingrid's children represented their schools at PSSA and CHS at state level.  Once her children finished their competitive interest in swimming Ingrid, rather than leaving the sport devoted her time and energy to the management, administration and officiating roles within swimming, not only within her beloved Boorowa Swimming Club, but expanding to include the South-West Swimming Zone and Southern Inland Swimming Association area.

In support of the nomination, the SISA Management Committee can attest that Ingrid Corcoran has,

  • - been qualified with Auswim since the late 70's.
  • - coached Boorowa Swim Club swimmers for at least 10 years, donating her time
  • - has been an accredited Swimming New South Wales Technical Official since the late 1990's and upskilled her accreditation to that of Referee in the early 2000's.
  • - has continually refereed at Western PSSA & CHS, GSSA, South West, SISA, Country Regionals & Country Championships since gained her Referee’s accreditation.
  • - has been a starter at CHS in Sydney & NSW All Schools for a number of years.
  • - has been chairperson of South West District & South West Zone along with holding many other positions over the last 20 years.
  • - has been a committee member of Southern Inland Swimming Association since its’ inception, along with being the SISA Secretary for the last 3 years.
  • - has done Technical Official & Referee duties at the James Brophy Meet on many occasions over the last 20 years.
  • - has encouraged, supported, developed and mentored many Technical Officials in South West & SISA

Ingrid continues to maintain an active role in the Southern Inland Swimming, and I have no doubt that she will continue this active involvement well into the future.

The SISA Management Committee.
